Damage Done by North Dakota Tornado, Storms Surveyed

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

The National Weather Service sent damage assessment teams to various sites around North Dakota hit by storms, including a tornado.

A team from the Bismarck office is headed to Rolla, N.D., to survey the damage left after a tornado touched down Monday in the Rolette County town.

Two teams from the Grand Forks office were heading to other sites near Munich and Finley, N.D.

Weather Service forecaster Nancy Goden said investigators will try to determine the size and strength of each storm system.

Governor Hoeven toured Rolla on Tuesday. The Rolette County Board has scheduled a special meeting to discuss a possible disaster declaration.
