HAYDEN, Idaho  —  Authorities say a wounded woman was able to fatally stab a man who was allegedly raping her near Hayden Lake, Idaho, early this morning.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says the woman called them to say she had been stabbed and raped by a man, but had also managed to stab him and fight her way free and escape in the man's vehicle.

Deputies found the man lying dead in the road just before 5 a.m..

Sheriff's spokesman Ben Wolfinger says it is unclear if the woman and her attacker knew each other. The woman is in an area hospital.
