Well, I didn’t have much warning, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. First let me thank each and every one of you. In about 6 months, more than 950,000 of you have come to this blog and more than 32,000 have left comments (yeah I know 30,000 comes from Susan in Phoenix).

Seriously, this blog has been linked to Drudge, Perez, TMZ and TVNewser in that time frame and I have posted from all over the globe.

The good news.….the blog is still a blog.

The bad news, it is being redirected a bit.

For those of you who come to a URL, (foxnews.com/housley) it won’t change a thing.

Come Wednesday you’ll notice little different. In fact, most of you will notice little different. Here’s what they’ve decided to do….put all of us under one banner to try and increase numbers for all of the blogs and make it easier to find blogs and promote on our foxnews.com main page. So, to find the blog, same URL.

You will no longer see the little square ‘housley in the house’ if you go to the blog listings. In fact, almost all are going away and will be eventually combined under similar banners. You’ll still be able to comment and I will still be able to respond.

I will still post like I have been doing, but the banner will be blue with my name and pic, you can see it by going to the ‘On The Scene’ blog on the main page and then when you find my article, click on my name. Again, very little different for you guys other than the color and banner at the top. I hope you support the ‘ decision and continue to blog along.

I will still provide the same stuff as always, just under a different color. Let me know what you think and any suggestions. Everything should be in place by Wednesday night and also please pass along the information to all who care.

 Sports on Sunday is back, heck why not? Whether you are a sports fan or not, we’ve got to have one day to show our colors and root for our teams. So, each week after 6 days of mostly serious stuff I will post a sports thread like this one to allow all of us to talk a little trash (nicely) about our various teams and schools. Yep… the Giants have won more games already than I expected all year. Of course since I am the author I will error on the side of the left coast and north of Los Angeles, except Pepperdine. This video I grabbed earlier in the week when I headed out to the ‘Dine’ for an afternoon affair. What an amazing day to catch ‘America’s Pastime’ with two of the better teams in the country. UCLA came up the coast and left with a loss. Any game between southern California teams is always an important game. So, here is some video and….I can’t believe it has been more than 10 years since I pitched here. WOW…time flies, but thankfully in this yard the balls don’t. I am a pitcher.

With the popularity of the other drug sub videos in my previous thread, I have decided to add one more provided to me from the Coast Guard. This one is infrared for the most of it, but the last part of the video goes back to a standard look. It is amazing when you see how much of the submersible really is under the Pacific Ocean and this video shows it. You can also see how dangerous it becomes for our men and women fighting the war on drugs. Tough enough to approach a boat on top of the water moving at a good clip, now look at the drug runners out the hatch, preparing to abandon the sub and trying to sink it at the same time.

 In the last 6 months the U.S. Coast Guard along with the U.S. Navy have found 42 submersibles headed north towards the United States and off the coast of Central America. That is double the number found in the previous 5 years combined. These subs can carry as much as 10 tons of drugs or even weapons and some of the latest models can move 15 knots. This is obviously troubling and makes our war on the cartels that much more difficult. We are currently at Coast Guard Island in Alameda California, where the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sherman is located. The ship has recently returned from operations off of Central America, where finding these subs is proving difficult. They are primitive but effective and built similar to the subs used in the civil war. Usually about 6 inches or so sticks above the water, which is almost impossible to spot. During the day the subs sit, preserving their cover for movement at night. Here is some great raw video provided by the U.S. Coast Guard.  FRIDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING UPDATE   There is some concern within our national security forces that these subs could eventually, of not already, carry weapons and/or terrorists north without detection. Also, if the drug runners sink the sub, or burn it and the evidence is lost, then the Coast Guard is required to rescue the drug runners and then safely release them on shore. They USCG is working with the DHS and DOJ to get the law changed. More video after the link.

Here is a duel post. This is the picture of the day and also   a big hint as to my story tomorrow. We are reporting       live…but from where and on what? Tell me what this is and how does it relate to our story? I will post some great raw video tonight and also some good stuff behind the scenes tomorrow. In the meantime….have at it. OK….a couple of things. First I went back through and made some comments and answered questions in previous posts. Second, I was on a plane and traveling much of today, so where am I am what am I doing for work? OH….I am sure looking forward to a few of your responses….imaginations can run wild on this blog. Also, Greta and a couple of others have suggested we change the name to adamwire….what do you think? Finally, what did you think about the O’Reilly interview last night with Hillary Clinton? On the ‘Caruso Brothers’ thread, one of their brothers in Italy posted in italian…go figure. Problem is….I don’t speak italian…can someone translate? A ton of questions…so have at it.

So this comes a day late, but better late than never…as the old saying goes. I saw these machines late last fall and decided to get one for my parents for Christmas since they have a large record collection from back in the day. It took me three weeks to find a store that hadn’t sold out and I ended up calling a Brookstone store in Northern California and had them hold one for me. The unit I ended up buying was strictly a record to MP3, but while I was at CES I saw the cassette to MP3 unit which would also be a great gift. As for the price, not too bad. Both units are well under $200 and also easy to set up. I have heard a few songs my mom has converted and they sound darn good. Perfect, no, but darn good. For most of us, it would be tough to tell the difference from one bought and downloaded online.

We have reported about the flights that go between Tehran and Caracas and the fact that there are inaccurate passenger lists (or none at all) and many times no cargo lists. This violates international law. I have been told by our connections in Venezuela that this cooperation is only growing and now this report: 

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have agreed by telephone to meet soon to boost cooperation on several levels, the Venezuelan foreign ministry said .
“Presidents Ahmadinejad and Chavez agreed to meet as soon as possible to continue boosting their industrial, scientific and technological development plans in benefit of their two nations,” the ministry said in a statement Sunday.
The two leaders have often met, the last time was in November in Tehran. They share a profound hatred of the United States and both their countries are members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). In their telephone conversation, Ahmadinejad congratulated Chavez for Venezuela’s “victory over ExxonMobil, and ratified his solidarity with Venezuela’s fight to secure its natural resources,” the foreign ministry said.
A London judge in March lifted a freeze on 12 billion dollars in global assets of Venezuela’s state-run oil company PDVSA ExxonMobil had requested as compensation for a Venezuelan 2006 law forcing foreign oil companies to give PDVSA at least a 60 percent share in their operations at oil fields in the Orinoco basin.

All of us hoped we wouldn’t be back in this mode until late in the summer, but with temperatures in the high 90’s over the weekend here in Southern California and expected hot again today, we started our shift/coverage during the Studio B hour and are prepared to go into the night here in Southern California. There have been some fires early in the season in years past, but after such a tough fall in Malibu and in so many other areas, we had hoped for a quiet spring, but firefighting in these parts has become a year around occupation. Partly because of warm temps, but more so because of the new home expansion, we seem to be covering more fires earlier in the year. Basically more people are moving into areas where fires are common and people for recorded time weren’t. So our crew of Ron Ralston (producer), Eric Barnes (photographer) and myself are here near Pasadena California, in a community called Sierra Madre. Outside it feels like the Arizona desert in June. When we step out of our live truck you can feel the dryness envelope you and the heat pound from above. A light but warm breeze doesn’t provide any relief. Around me I hear helicopters and planes flying continuously at low altitudes and the smoke has covered the sky, with small ashes falling like light snowflakes onto cars.
